The flagship of the Cooperativa Agricola Possidenti Oliveti Oil mill in Limone sul Garda (BS) is the extra-virgin olive oil "Garda bresciano" d.o.p. (protected designation of origin).
This fine variety of extra-virgin olive oil is produced from hand-picked olives along the western shore of Garda, where Limone is located. The selected plants belong to the typical species called Casaliva, Leccino and Frantoio.
The "Garda Bresciano" produced by our oil mill is considered one of the best olive oils in the world.
A product of superior quality, which is recognisible by the high content of polyunsaturated fatty acids, and which has obtained recognition of its safe, protected and certified origin.

Characteristics of "Garda Bresciano" Oil d.o.p.

The characteristics of the "Garda Bresciano" d.o.p. produced at our oil mill have the following requirements:
  • color from green to yellow
  • medium or light fruity smell
  • fruity taste with a light bitter and spicy sensation
  • total maximum acidity 0,5 g / 100 g of oil
  • peroxide number> = 12 meq 02 / kg
  • oleic acid> = 72%
Thanks to these characteristics, our "Garda Bresciano" d.o.p. has received numerous acknowledgments. For example, in May 1999, the extra virgin olive oil produced by our Limone oil mill was defined as "the greatest delicacy" of Cibus Mediterraneo: the professional food fair at the Fiera del Levante in Bari, dedicated to typical products that stand out for genuineness and tradition.

The Production Method and Food Pairings

In our historic oil mill in Limone, olives are squeezed with stone mills within five days of harvesting. The pulp passes from the mills to the grinding machine, and then from there to the hydraulic presses. The oil is separated by centrifugation and, after passing through the cotton filter, is collected in the storage container, ready for bottling. The process is performed at a cold temperature. During the extraction process, the temperature never exceeds 27° C.
Our oil mill uses only olives from plants characteristic of the area and of selected quality, such as Casaliva and Frantoio. This guarantees "Garda Bresciano" anti-odorizing properties and its typical genuineness.
Thanks to its lightness and medium-light fruity aroma, our oil is perfectly suited for most dishes. It is particularly suitable for grilled fish, grilled red meats, soups and vegetables, both cooked and raw .
